Product Description

SHELSLEY MEDIUM is a premium mineral, 25W-70, high zinc, very low detergent engine oil designed specifically for petrol, kerosene and diesel fuelled vintage, pre-war and post-war vehicles manufactured to 1950. It features a double layer of engine wear protection with high zinc and increased operating temperature viscosity over monograde oils.

Application

SHELSLEY MEDIUM is suitable for passenger cars, motorcycles, 4WDs, light and heavy duty commercial vehicles (trucks, buses and heavy equipment), tractors and industrial machines that originally specified a SAE 40 monograde engine oil, fitted with or without an engine oil filter. Those vehicles requiring higher detergency should use Penrite Classic Medium Engine Oil.

It is a 25W-70 engine oil for vehicles that specified SAE 40 grade engine oils. Suitable for larger engined vintage and pre-war vehicles with trough or dipper type lubricating systems, or early pressure feed systems. Also suitable for total loss oiling systems and larger capacity sleeve valve engined cars such as Minerva, Mors, Knight and Daimler.

Ideal for early vintage (pre-1950) motorcycles where SAE 40 and SAE 50 grade engine oils were specified, incorporating sight glasses, pilgrim oil pumps and total loss lubrication systems. Suitable for motorcycles fitted with a wet clutch where engine and gearbox oils are combined.

Ideal for pre-war engined Harley Davidson and larger capacity British and European motorcycles in all service conditions including competition and high ambient temperatures. Suitable for Pre-WWII models including:

SHELSLEY MEDIUM contains a special additive pack suited to vintage vehicles of the era. It exceeds the specification requirements of the original oils, offering greater engine protection. Features a standard multigrade cold temperature SAE viscosity grade with an increased operating temperature range. Multigrade oils provide better start-up and operating temperature protection than monograde oils and do not need to be changed seasonally.

It is an API SC/CC grade oil with very low detergent levels and HIGH ZINC levels for added anti-wear protection for older engines. Contains a “Tacky Additive” so engine oil doesn’t run off internal surfaces when laid up, combined with an increased level of rust inhibitor for protection during storage.

NOTE: When changing oil, Penrite recommend using Penrite Engine Flush — a fast acting, solvent free engine cleaning formulation that removes engine deposits, sludge and contaminants. Contains added zinc for wear protection and works in 10 minutes.
