ISC Reflex Mechanical Hitch | SRT & MRT Mid-Line Attachable Device Red, Black MH285
ISC REFLEX Mechanical Hitch, Black & Red
Stop lead-climbing the same way. The ISC Reflex (MH285) is a game-changer for Australian arborists who want the familiar feel of a traditional hitch cord but with the efficiency of a mechanical device. Unlike the Petzl ZigZag, the Reflex is true mid-line attachable, meaning no more pulling 50 meters of rope through your device to get started.
ISC Reflex Mechanical Hitch | SRT & MRT Mid-Line Attachable Device
The ISC Reflex (MH285) represents the next evolution in mechanical climbing for arborists. While most mechanical prusiks require you to feed your rope through the device, the Reflex is a true mid-line attachable mechanical hitch. This means no more pulling meters of rope through your device—simply install it exactly where you need it on the line.
Engineered for versatility, the Reflex allows you to switch seamlessly between SRT (Single Rope Technique) and MRT (Moving Rope Technique). Notably, for many climbers, it offers the ability to run SRT without a wrench, keeping your climbing system streamlined, lightweight, and incredibly efficient.
Why the ISC Reflex is a Game-Changer:
Mid-Line Attachment: Featuring a safety-lock swing frame and L-shaped links, you can install the Reflex at any point on your climbing line. This saves time during canopy transitions and protects your rope’s end-labels from unnecessary wear.
SRT & MRT Versatility: Whether you prefer a stationary or moving rope system, the Reflex provides consistent friction and a familiar "hitch-like" feel.
200kg Rescue Rated: Safety is paramount. This is a 200kg rescue rated climbing device, giving you the peace of mind that it can handle the load requirements of an emergency aerial rescue without the need for additional friction hardware.
Intuitive Feedback: Designed to mimic the response of a traditional friction hitch, the Reflex offers a smooth "squeeze-to-release" action and a predictable "bite" when you need it to hold.
Replaceable Swivel Eye: The removable swivel allows for direct connection to your bridge or easy replacement of parts, extending the overall lifespan of your gear.

Mechanical Prusik for Arborists
The ISC Reflex is the ideal solution for climbers looking to move away from traditional cordage to a more durable, reliable mechanical prusik. By eliminating hitch-cord wear and glaze, the Reflex provides a consistent descent every time, regardless of weather conditions.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I use the ISC Reflex for SRT? A: Yes! The Reflex is specifically designed for both SRT and MRT. Its unique geometry allows for SRT use without an additional wrench or tether in many configurations.
Q: Is it compatible with 11.7mm ropes? A: Yes, it is fully certified for use on high-quality EN 1891 Type A ropes between 11mm and 13mm.
Q: Does it come with the swivel? A: Yes, the Reflex comes standard with the replaceable swivel eye for maximum attachment flexibility.
The REFLEX Mechanical Hitch is a mid-line attachable device! Gone are the days of pulling entire lengths of rope through the device, ahead of or during your climb!
Designed to offer precise friction control, with a gradual release of friction, the REFLEX combines the familiarity of a hitch cord-controlled descent with the versatility of a mid-line attachable mechanical device.
The REFLEX body is fitted with a safety-lock swing-frame and L-shaped links, which means that the rope can be inserted into the body and then helically wound around and into (rather than threaded through) each link. The top link is fitted with a latch which keeps the rope securely captivated, within the links during use.
Mid-line attachment is beneficial as it means that climbers don’t have to pull an entire length of rope through the device in order to install/remove rope at the beginning of, or at any point during, their climb. This is especially useful when using rope with bulky termination labelling, that would otherwise have to be cut off, removing the rope identification/traceability information.
Mid-line attachment is also a game-changer in terms of providing additional limb-passing options and changeovers, within the canopy!
Whether used in MRT or SRT systems, the links of the REFLEX enable consistent friction control, without the need of additional frictional hardware. This means that the REFLEX can be used for SRT, without the need of a Wrench & Tether! This is ideal for climbers who want to keep their system simple and compact and enables easy slack payout.
For those who prefer to use the REFLEX with an additional APEX and FLEX Tether, the REFLEX has attachment apertures which enable versatile set-up options, as well as quick and easy transitions between set ups.
The 200kg rated rescue load enables climbers to perform rescues, without needing to build in additional friction. If desired, an APEX & FLEX Tether can be added, to offer additional friction for greater ease of control.
CE Certified to EN 12841, on EN 1891-A ø11-13mm Rope
The links of the REFLEX adjust to provide consistent friction across the rope range, with no need to adjust settings.
Removeable & Replaceable Swivel
The Swivel-eye can be removed from the device, by way a sequence of deliberate actions. This enables quick disconnection without having to disassemble the climbing system, or bridge set up. Ideal for lunchbreaks, or when nipping to the truck to get more gear. The removeable swivel also allows more limb-passing options and means that the Swivel-eye can easily be replaced when it becomes worn.
The Swivel-eye is shaped to accommodate two karabiners. Alternatively, up to two bridge ropes can be threaded directly through the eye in order to achieve a compact system.
The REFLEX offers self-tending, low-friction ascent, with a choice of towing positions.
